Raising a child with Down syndrome often means that parents are learning lots of information as they support their child. While DSDN offers several layers of support, including online forums, connections to local groups, and curated resources, we are always looking for additional supports and tools for new parents. Our Parent Webinar Series aims to provide an overview of the Down syndrome community, available resources and information that may be needed in the first few years. We hope that providing this information will create a strong foundation for parents to look back on and access when the time is right. Learn more: https://www.dsdiagnosisnetwork.org/do... Want to know more about the laws that protect the educational rights of children and youth with disabilities to access education and related services in public K-12 schools? Join members of the National Down Syndrome Congress Policy Team Stephanie Smith Lee, Ricki Sabia, and Jawanda Mast as they share information about the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In understandable language, the NDSC Policy Team will discuss the key points you need to know about each law, how the laws differ, and how you can advocate for better implementation of these laws.
