The Brooklebank is a historic motor tug that was launched in Liverpool in 1964 for the Alexandra Towing Company. She was one of five tugboats built by W.J. Yarwood & Sons Ltd between 1962-1965. In 1989, she was purchased by Merseyside Maritime Museum and is now maintained by experienced seamen on behalf of the Friends of the National Museums Liverpool. This video tour takes you on board this preserved tug which remains an integral part of Liverpool's harbor and maritime history. Normally docked in the city's famous Albert Dock next to the museum, the Brocklebank also attends maritime festivals across the UK. We visit the wheelhouse, engine room and have a general look around the vessel. Join me on this one-of-a-kind tour showcasing a tug that reflects the long history of Liverpool as a vital working port. Stepping aboard the Brocklebank is a transportive experience back to the days when the Mersey teemed with ships feeding global trade.
