Here's an overview of my @warmoth "Z" roasted Alder and Rosewood guitar body. In my quest to make selections I had some unanswered questions in the process and I thought this could help shed some light on that for others. The staff at Warmoth were very helpful but did not seem to have rough dimensions or average weights for the various body wood selections offered. My recommendation for shopping for your build is to really take your time, I had many iterations "in my cart" but I just resisted time and time again. I found over time my choices did change and really began to settle down and really become more of a concrete vision, ultimately no longer changing and becoming "for sure the one". From a "cheap, light easy" version to a "heavy weight "just get what I want and deal with it" option, it did take time to get it resolved. For me I spent time on Google comparing weights, densities and hardnesses of the offered woods in conjunction with conventional guitar manufacturing woods and various "sound tests" on YouTube. In the end I chose roasted Alder to lighten it up yet have enough strength to support the carved neck heel with a Rosewood top for added hardness and top durability while tying in my existing ebony fretboard. I did pay an "off menu" lightweight premium to help lock in my desire to be happy with the appearance and overall weight. As the video shows, the empty body runs 3 Lbs 12-1/4 Oz. My neck weighs 1 Lb 4-1/4 Oz. It appears I'm off to a good start with 5 Lbs 1/2 Oz combined weights plus the hardware. Finally, after making sure my other bills were paid I worked a "big day" of high end locksmith craftsmanship and turned that money over in "exchange" for equally difficult work on the part of Warmoth. I have much respect for the quality and attention that they put into this endeavor! #roastedalder #rosewood #warmoth #guitarbuilding #hsh #electricguitar
