SOUNDBITE (English): Michael McGraw, Director Media Relations, PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals: "Our protest of Jean Paul Gaultier comes a day before his fashion show. This is timed to coincide with Paris Fashion Week which is happening all this week. And our message to consumers is that animals suffer horribly for every piece of fur whether it is a little piece of fur trim or it's an entire fur coat. They're trapped, drowned, beaten to death, and according to our most recent undercover operation they are actually even skinned alive for their pelts." 10. STORYLINE Just as Fashion Week got underway in Paris on Monday, anti-fur demonstrators from the group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) targeted the Jean Paul Gaultier shop adjacent to the Champs-Elysees. Drenched in fake blood, wearing fur pelts and carrying posters reading "Death for Sale" the protesters managed to enter the Gaultier shop before being arrested. They were dragged out by French police but continued shouting "Gaultier Assassin!". A PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) spokesman says their protest follows numerous attempts to contact Gaultier about his company's treatment of animals which have gone unanswered. "Our message to consumers is that animals suffer horribly for every piece of fur whether it is a little piece of fur trim or it's an entire fur coat." said Michael McGraw, Director of Media Relations for PETA. The Gaultier fashion show is scheduled for Tuesday.
