The series shows you the fascinating world of an invasive species of paper wasp, and how they survive and thrive in the wild. You’ll see these scrappy wasps go through all the action and drama of building their nest, laying eggs, establishing dominance amongst competing queens, foraging for food and nesting material, feeding their larvae, defending their nest against daily attacks by ants, spiders, parasitic wasps, etc. We first discovered this Polistes Dominula nest in May 2022 when it was started by two co-foundress queens and had only a dozen brand new cells. We documented its development all the way through November 2022 when it finished the season with over 200 cells! This episode (PART TWO) documents the developing nest from May 25 -June 14, 2022.
