As Nepal approaches its transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2026, the Nepal Competitiveness Index (NCI) 2025 highlights key provincial gaps - Madhesh, Karnali, and Lumbini require urgent investment in education, healthcare, and industry, while Bagmati, Koshi, and Gandaki face challenges in tax compliance, labor training, and revenue systems. Declining Official Development Assistance (ODA) and weak infrastructure further threaten long-term competitiveness. This session features panelists from the Swiss Embassy, Coca-Cola (Bottlers Nepal Limited), International Labour Organization (ILO), and Asian Development Bank (ADB), who share how their institutions are planning for the post-LDC 2026 landscape. The discussion covers strategies on governance, workforce development, digital transformation, and sustainable financing to support Nepal’s smooth and inclusive graduation. Moderator: Nischal Dhungel, Non-Resident Fellow, Nepal Institute for Policy Research (NIPoRe) Panelists: Jan Hansen, Nepal Principal Economist, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Cécile Rivière, First Secretary & Programme Manager, Embassy of Switzerland, Kathmandu Sneh Rajbhandari, Director, Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Coca-Cola Prakash Sharma, National Project Coordinator, Enhancing Decent Work and Productivity for Nepal's LDC Graduation Program, ILO Nepal Copyright © 2025, Nepal Institute for Policy Research (NIPoRe) and Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI), Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore Please email your feedback and comments to info[at]nipore[dot]org
