Illia Polosukhin, Bowen Wang, Alex Shevchenko, and Kendall Cole all spoke at ETH Denver 2025, covering NEAR’s advancements in agentic commerce, blockchain scaling, intents, and chain abstraction. Bowen Wang explains how NEAR Protocol is scaling to support AI-driven economies with 1 million TPS and 200ms block times through sharding and execution-consensus separation, while also enabling autonomous AI agents with an open financial system, trustless settlements, and decentralized key management. Kendall Cole introduces Shade Agents, the first truly autonomous, non-custodial, multi-chain AI agents that can execute transactions while maintaining privacy and security using trusted execution environments (TEEs) and chain signatures. He explains how these agents enable decentralized key management, verifiable execution, and smart contract-enforced guardrails, allowing them to complete end-to-end workflows across multiple blockchains. Alex Shevchenko explains NEAR Intents, a protocol that enables AI agents and users to seamlessly execute multi-chain transactions by discovering counterparties, negotiating terms, and settling trades in a trustless manner. He highlights recent upgrades, including passkey authentication, OTC trading, and integrations with major blockchains, positioning NEAR Intents as a scalable alternative to centralized exchanges. Illia Polosukhin introduces agentic commerce, where AI assistants act on behalf of users to execute transactions, manage data, and interact with decentralized services seamlessly. He showcases a live demo of an AI-powered assistant using AITP (Agent Interaction and Transaction Protocol) to shop for products, negotiate with specialized agents, and facilitate payments using crypto. Whiteboard talk Illia and Bowen discuss NEAR’s evolving architecture, focusing on execution-consensus separation, chain signatures, and TEEs (Trusted Execution Environments) to scale AI-powered blockchain interactions. They outline how intents, agent coordination, and verifiable computation will enable trustless automation across multiple blockchains while maintaining privacy and security.
