In an interview with MEE Live, British journalist Peter Oborne described what he called a “new dimension of horror and danger” facing Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Drawing on more than two decades of reporting from the region, Oborne said Israeli settlers have increasingly formed what he described as “a kind of fascist militia,” moving from village to village and driving Palestinians from their communities. He detailed how armed settlers steal livestock, destroy farmland, and attack residents, often with impunity. When Palestinians attempt to defend themselves, Israeli police or military forces frequently intervene on behalf of the settlers, leaving local communities trapped in a cycle of violence and dispossession.
