Managing blood sugars while traveling is one thing… but packing T1D supplies is another! After years of practice (and a lot of mistakes), I’ve nailed down how much to bring. This is a bit different than what I bring for a domestic trip, where I know I could more easily access a pharmacy if needed. In general, I aim for about 2x the amount of tech I anticipate needing. There are times we've extended our trip or something has gone wrong that I need backup and this has been so useful. Then I always have backups for my pump (pens + needles) and CGM (meter + test strips). One thing I didn't mention in this video was low snacks. I typically have 5-ish gels/low snacks with me and then my in-laws always have low snacks stocked when we arrive, so I only need them for the airport/plane. I'm always tempted to pack more than 2x, but I know that this is PLENTY to get me through whatever may happen. It's the perfect amount for me to feel comfortable without having to fill an entire suitcase haha. More travel vids coming soon!
