"From Seed to Song" Acrylic and Spray Paint 2025 Oldemeyer Center, Seaside, CA The transformative story of a young girl's journey, nurtured by her local community center. On the left, we see her as a thoughtful and curious child composing a symphonic cascade of musical instruments, vibrant vegetation, and various sports activities, representing all the programs and opportunities the community center has offered that have helped her grow and find her true voice. On the right, she has transformed into a confident young woman dancing with joy and purpose, embodying all the skills, confidence, and knowledge she's gained throughout the years. She’s ready to give back to her community, perhaps as a mentor to the next generation of children who will walk through those same community center doors she did as a child. I’ve lived in Seaside for almost 2 decades. When my boys were little, I brought them to the Oldemeyer Center’s “Tiny Tot” Preschool program, they learned to swim (and had birthday parties) at Patullo Swim Center across the street, and have grown up utilizing the awesome offerings of this place. Whether as the end point of Seaside’s MLK march, gathering spot for cultural celebrations n meetings, or a sweet Pickleball/Bingo venue: The Oldemeyer Center and its programs have been a rock for our community throughout the years .
