Hello friends. Apologies for missing my regular Rebel News segment, but as a transgender person this particular news story touched on a lot of subjects near to me. Nex Benedict was born January 11, 2008 as Dagny Benedict, and was only 16 years old when they tragically passed away. While the circumstances are still under investigation, it appears Nex died shortly after a violent altercation at school in the restrooms. Three older girls allegedly beat Nex severely enough they were unable to go to the nurse's office on their own. Reports indicate Nex identified as nonbinary and used they/them pronouns. This situation is tragic for countless reasons, but not least of which is the effects hate can have on children. Remember to be kind to one another, stand up to bullying, and that love is far more powerful than hate. We are sorry for not using their name correctly and as parents we were still learning the correct forms. Please do not judge us as Nex was judged, please do not bully us for our ignorance on the subject. Nex gave us that respect and we are sorry in our grief that we overlooked them. I lost my child, the headstone will have correct name of their choice. The rest of monies will go to other children dealing with the right to be who they feel they are, in Nex Benedict’s name. God bless" Rest in power ❤️🌹 UPDATE 3/13: Nex Benedict update: Police investigators have ruled the student's death a suicide following the toxicology results. Allegedly from toxicity from one prescription and one over the counter medication. The investigation is still on-going, and the Department of Education's federal investigation is still on-going.
