A low pressure system responsible for severe weather and excessive rainfall across the Midwest over the past several days will produce some final showers and thunderstorms along the East Coast tonight before moving off into the Atlantic. The southern portion of the attendant cold front will hang up over south Florida and generate scattered thunderstorm activity across the region through Tuesday. Temperatures will drop well below average over the eastern half of the country compounding issues posed by flooding over parts of the Ohio Valley tonight and Tuesday night, when overnight minimums may drop below freezing. Highs in the 30s and 40s will represent a 20-30 degree departure from average for much of the Ohio Valley, interior Northeast and Central Appalachians.
