The final three days of the Michigan legislature are underway and the fight is intense. The Michigan House just slashed $645 million in state spending without the Senate’s approval. The GOP used a special appropriations process to cancel funds for nearly 70 projects that had already been approved. Michigan Republicans said the cuts will rein in overspending and cut down on government waste, but Democrats call it “corrupt.” Among the cuts are grants for the Holocaust Memorial Center, the Detroit Zoom Motown Museum, school zone traffic cameras, and symphony orchestras. The biggest hit was $159 million being taken from the Make it in Michigan Competitiveness fund, a program for infrastructure, climate and economic development. Another major cut -- $18.5 million for Rx Kids, a program supporting pregnant women and new moms. This move has organizations worried about their funding come the new year. Jordyn Hermani joined Local 4 Live to break it all down.
