Can't really think of a clever title... Anyway I thought this would be cool to show. Using Vanilla to mirror the Gamepad's screen for a high quality display of the Item/Position portion of the screen. If you're interested, you can try out Vanilla here: https://github.com/vanilla-wiiu/vanilla ^ You'll need a computer running Linux. Your console doesn't need to be modded. Had to record the gameplay footage and the gamepad footage seperately since it would drop frames when showing both and recording on OBS. I recorded the capture card/TV screen with FFmpeg while using Vanilla's built in recording feature to record the gamepad screen, and synced them up in editing. If you are wanting to work with Vanilla's built in recording feature, the file it outputs is the raw H264 Gamepad stream from the console, and while that's great, it has no keyframes and is a variable refresh rate which may cause issues if you're editing. Re-encoding the video and using that to edit is the best way to take care of it. Anyways, hope you found this somewhat interesting.
