This video show how to disassemble, clean, repair and re-assemble your BOSS Micro BR BR-80 Portable Multitrack Recorder. This is a fairly straight forward process, that I feel can be done by most people that are handy with DIY jobs and working with small tools. Primarily you will need a set of small phillips and flat head screwdrivers, some contact cleaner (or rubbing alcohol) and some Q tips. The process takes about 45 to 90 minutes to complete. Most important aspect is to go slow and take your time. DISCLAIMER: This process will very likely void your warranty and there is ALWAYS the possibility you could damage your device (as is true with any repair). So please be aware that I am (of course) NOT responsible should either of these problems (or others!) occur. Therefore, please proceed at your own risk. Scroll/Jog Dial Parts Information: Based on my research, it appears the actual scroll/jog dial assembly that BOSS used in this device is the following: Alps Part numbers: SRGP400100, SRGP400200 : http://www.alps.com/prod/info/E/HTML/... (These two part numbers appear to be interchangeable.) Furthermore, either assembly can currently be purchased from these suppliers/vendors: RS Online: http://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/mechani... http://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/mechani... Allied Electronics: http://www.alliedelec.com/alps-srgp40... http://www.alliedelec.com/alps-srgp40... DISCLAIMER: I have no relationship with the above vendors. They are just the first two that I found that appear to sell the Scroll/Jog Dial assembly. IMPORTANT: Unlike basic cleaning and the DIY repair that is outlined in the video above, a full replacement of the scroll/jog dial (ie: the BASE of the jog dial that is soldered into the mainboard) should ONLY be attempted someone possessing significant micro-soldering skills. HOWEVER, the upper portion of a newly purchased assembly can easily be detached and used (should your unit have any broken or missing pins in the upper scroll ring that sits upon the base). Again, see the video for more detail on how to remove, clean, repair, or replace the upper portion of the Scroll/Jog Dial. [..2..]
