X-Lay® : A New Solution for Subsea Pipeline Removal | Restore Subsea

Australia and the world face a growing challenge: the safe and cost-effective removal of subsea oil & gas pipelines. In this video, Darren O’Leary, Managing Director of Restore Subsea, explains the scale of the global subsea decommissioning challenge and introduces X-Lay®, an innovative pipeline retrieval solution designed to dramatically reduce costs and improve environmental sustainability. According to the Australian Decommissioning Liability Report by DISR, operators in Australia could face A$21B–A$87B in subsea cleanup liabilities, with hundreds of kilometres of rigid pipelines requiring removal by 2030. Current removal methods are expensive, slow, and may involve environmental trade-offs.
