In this video I show you how to optimize images for website in Photoshop and then how to use WP Rocket caching plugin to speed up your Wordpress photography website. Having a slow website is not only bad for the person viewing your website, but also has some effect on your search engine ranking, especially the mobile version. The one thing that makes a website large and slow are your photos. Unfortunately we are photographers so there is no alternative but to have lots of photos on our website, and we want people to view them large. So what can we do? Well, first of all you need to optimize your photos ideally before you upload them, or optimize them inside of Wordpress if they are already there. In this video I show you how to resize and optimize your photos in Adobe Photoshop or any other photo editor to ensure the smallest possible file size with the maximum quality. Then I show you how to compress them inside of Wordpress by using a plugin. The next thing that slows down your website is all the code. For most of us we cannot go behind the scenes and fix that, but we can fix it with a caching plugin. Here I show you how a great plugin called WP Rocket can make a huge difference to the speed of your website. One way to test the speed of your site on both desktop and mobile is to use Google’s pagespeed insights tool. This is a very hard tool to please, but with the file optimizations and WP Rocket, I show you how I improved my own mobile score and took it from 38 to 75. 0:00: Intro 1:26 Optimise your images with Photoshop before you upload 11:16 Optimise your photos after uploading (using a plugin) 23:19 Measuring the speed of your website 26:14 Using a caching plugin Read my WP Rocket review here: https://ianmiddleton.co.uk/wp-rocket-...
