Trust The Science? | John

But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.” — John 7:28-29 We have all heard the phrase "trust the science" repeated ad nauseam for several years. Some people use this phrase to insist that questions should come to a complete stop and that we should trust what experts tell us to believe. Denial of trusting science, scientists, and their scientific theories would suggest I am ignorant or uneducated. But that's precisely what John shows us religious officials did with Jesus. As the officials saw it, the science suggested Jesus had natural parents because they knew Mary and Joseph. The science said Jesus was from Nazareth, not Bethlehem because they knew where he was born. The science suggested the Messiah would do more miracles and wonders than they had seen Jesus do. So according to their science, Jesus could not be the Messiah. But they should have realized that their scientific approach needed to be corrected. They made some wrong assumptions which meant their conclusions needed to be updated. Their scientific beliefs blinded them. Here is what John and Jesus are trying to tell us. For some, the natural world is so visible, tangible, and real they will never be able to see the supernatural. Blinded to it, they will refuse to believe. On the other hand, some will see, and they will marvel. By faith, they will look beyond human attempts at science and make a connection to the supernatural. And once they see the supernatural, they will discover true science and will uncover the failed attempts of man's effort to know God by human means. Man does not discover true understanding. God must reveal it. The answers we seek are not revealed in "trusting the science." The answers are found in the Creator of all things, who reveals himself to us. So ask God to do that today. To reveal himself to you. ASK THIS: Are you looking for revelation? DO THIS: Have faith beyond science — in Jesus. PRAY THIS: God, reveal the truth to me so I can see. PLAY THIS: Now I See.
