Did you know that babies born prematurely are known to have better outcomes when they receive delayed cord clamping? Are you interested in an opportunity to join as parent representative in one of the hospital working groups? On this episode, we speak to Dr Himanshu Popat about the wamM (wait a minute or More) Trial - a new study about to begin in Australian Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) which aims to improve rates of delayed card clamping when a baby is born and how you join a hospital team and be involved as a parent voice. Dr Himanshu Popat is the Clinical Lead and Co-director of the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. He is the Future Leader Fellow at the National Health and Medical Research Centre (NHMRC) Clinical Trial Centre in Sydney. He also chairs the NSW Newborn Intensive Care Unit Study (NICUS) group, which audits the mortality and morbidity of all babies admitted to NSW and ACT NICUs.
