Sinéad O'Shaughnessy was one of Ireland’s most promising traditional ballad singers of the early 1990's. Raised in a small village in the Irish midlands, Sinéad was educated by the Sisters of Mercy in Ballymahon - or, as they were more affectionately known locally, the Sisters of No Mercy - where by all accounts she was a quiet and well-mannered student with a remarkable gift for music and an even more remarkable memory for a good story. By 1994 she had built a reputation around the midlands as a fine and wholesome performer of traditional Irish folk songs, a regular at ceilí dances, parish halls and local festivals from Longford to Roscommon. In the spring of 1995 Sinéad recorded what was to be her debut single - a gentle and heartfelt ballad about a young woman’s romantic encounters in rural Ireland. The song, produced in a small studio in Mullingar, was submitted to RTÉ Radio for airplay consideration. It was rejected. No official reason was ever given. When informed of the decision by RTE, Sinéad was characteristically philosophical. “They’re only a shower of f**kin’ gobshites up there anyway,” she reportedly told her producer, before ordering another round. To this day nobody is entirely sure what RTÉ found objectionable about what is, by any measure, a perfectly innocent celebration of Irish country life and the simple joys of meeting a nice man. The single was quietly shelved and the recording considered lost. Sinead herself continued to sing and perform around the midlands, beloved by local audiences who knew a great ballad when they heard one. Every song begins with original human writing, arrangement, and creative direction before any AI tools are used. The songs are made to be enjoyed as real music - inspired by the legends that never were, and created as loving tributes to the sounds, stories, and spirit of past eras. Each track belongs to a growing fictional world where characters, places, and times intertwine, bringing a sense of myth, parody, and fun to every “lost” recording. The goal is simple: to make music that moves people - whether it makes you laugh, tap your foot, or feel something real. Some shout “AI!” as if they’ve uncovered a secret - usually the same folks who proudly tell everyone Spinal Tap isn’t real! The truth’s right here: it’s transparent, intentional, and all part of the fun.
