Dvora Berger was born in Lodz, Poland. With the outbreak of World War II, Dvora and her family were moved to the Lodz ghetto. Dvora and her family lived in the Lodz ghetto until its liquidation in August 1944, when Dvora and her entire family were deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. With the evacuation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dvora and her sisters were sent to the Halbstadt labor camp. She and her sisters worked there until the camp's liberation. After liberation, Dvora and her sisters returned to Lodz and joined the Agudat Israel kibbutz. In July 1946, she immigrated to pre-state Israel. Dvora studied at the Bais Ya'akov teachers seminary, married and had two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
