ART Bus ~ SMB 136C,the Mercedes Benz Citaro Demostrator

First event of 2026 👀 SG Art Week 2026 this year,features something that is relatively different from it's previous years,with it's title,"Next Stop Together!" The Art Bus,which was done by ‪@artdissingapore101‬ collaborating with SMRT Buses,was being showcased across the island,at places like National Museum/City Hall,United Square and even parks like Jurong Lake Gardens and Admiralty Park too. The art was done by people with disabilities aswell as other artists aswell, creating such a beautiful art piece with hands on art too (which is something I actually like honestly),which also shows that,even with disabilities, people can definitely create something beautiful too! Other then the Art bus,there were other arts that is featured in certain MRT Stations aswell,so do check it out before it is over!!! (Unfortunately Art Bus already ended as the event ran from 22 January till 31 January 2026 :/) The Bus: The bus that was used for this event,was surprisingly,SMB 136C,the Mercedes Benz O530 Citaro C1F Demostrator! SMB 136C, originally introduced in 2010,is the Demostrator for the Citaro's in Singapore,it is also "South East Asia's F1RST 100% Low Floor Bus" and it's the 2nd F1RST in Asia bus that was brought by SMRT after the Mercedes Benz OC500LE Buses (SMB 1H being the SEA's F1RST Euro V(5) bus back in 2008).SMB 136C is also the only Citaro to feature the Full European look, having the Swing in doors for the back door (unlike the Production batch Mercedes Benz Citaro's which uses swing out doors), different seats, using Gorba EDS (the original one) and the only Citaro to ever use,the 6 Speed ZF Ecomat Gearbox (while Production batch uses ZF Ecolife or Voith DIWA gearboxes) Originally debuted on Service Trunk 855 back in Ang Mo Kio Depot Days (AMDEP) and did other services like 854,854E,853,853C(now 853M),858 and even some feeders like 800 (technically it was an Yishun Loyal resident). Until 2016 when it went into Training bus duties until now 🥲. Seeing the demo during the event, brought so much memories back and well,it was pretty fun! The event was pretty good and honestly I learned so much from the art (other then the bus) and well,I definitely miss this event already 🤧 [thanks Art Week Staff for taking care of us too 🥹] well then,hope to see it again next year!
