The Brutal Death Animations in The Spirit of the Samurai

A compilation of ways Takeshi, Chisai, and a kodama can meet a terrible end while trying to stop undead and demons from destroying everything. A bit surprising on the sheer number of cat deaths especially as Takeshi didn't appear to have any game over cinematics in his human form. The art style and animation are very well done and a major reason to check this out. Combat can be a bit stiff with controls and sometimes frustrating for checkpoints as it's very easy to die. You have three "lives" (healing potions restore a life) with a resistance bar that decreases from running or taking damage. However, even if you max out your resistance stat there's still attacks that just take a life away and some enemies combo to lose two lives if you don't dodge, block, or parry. There's also instances where if you're executing a mob another enemy might attack when the iframes end but you're unable to move. I'm also not sure what the dexterity stat is for other than unlocking combos. The customizable combo system is cool to experiment with but you typically don't get off a full combo as being close usually starts a kick to get space or your blows will push enemies away. Bosses aren't too bad and by the endgame you probably max out your strength which will melt them pretty fast. All in all, this is a neat game but it has its flaws.
