1996 (AKA the year of my birth): the Nintendo 64 console was released, while video game franchises such as 'Resident Evil', 'Metal Slug', 'Dead or Alive' and 'Star Ocean' made their debut during that time. Meanwhile, Nissan's S14 Silvia received a slight update that year, adding (among other things) more aggressive headlights. [Car] Nissan SILVIA K's AERO S14 '96 [Best Lap] 2'08.163 [Description (based in-game)] *The Nissan S14 Silvia was sold as the Nissan 240SX in the US, and as the 200SX in the EU. When it made the S14 debut in October 1993, it was clear that the company injected the car with an extra dosage of "sport." It sat wider than its predecessor at 1730 mm compared to the S13's 1690 mm and received wider tires to boot. Overall length and height also grew slightly; the S14 was longer by 30 mm to 4500 mm, and taller by 5 mm to 1295 mm. The top-of-the-line K's SR20 engine featured a bump in output to 162 kW and 274.3 Nm of torque. It also got 16" alloy wheels as standard fare. The base Q and J trim levels stayed with the naturally aspirated variant, with the 2.0-liter DOHC inline-4 producing 118 kW and 188.1 Nm of torque. The suspension remained fairly unchanged from the S13 with MacPherson struts up front and multi-link suspension in back, while Super HICAS steering was added to the options list. Nissan fine-tuned the S14's driving character and updated the look for 1996. Gone were the retractable headlights of the previous version, replaced by a scowling visible one. A large spoiler also added flair. When Nissan didn't see a spike in the Silvia's sales volume in 1999, the company decided that it was time to reinvent the brand, setting the stage for the arrival of the S15.
