P. Mitchell has been an educator for over 25 years at both secondary and tertiary levels, in both face-to-face and online environments. She holds a Certificate in Education, a Bachelor's in Spanish (1st Class Hons.) and a Master's in Education (Curriculum Specialization). Ms. Mitchell effectively straddles and marries academia with TVET, having lectured part-time at the UWI, UWIOC and UQI-ROYTEC, while also specializing in curriculum design, development and implementation for TVET programmes over the last eight years, in the position of Manager, Curriculum Development. She believes that academia and TVET are necessary for developing well-rounded students/trainees. She proffers that "if your whole life has been steeped in academia such that you have never pursued any Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) whether for purposes of a hobby, personal use or entrepreneurship, you have missed out!" She also opines that Technology-Enhance Learning (TEL) in TVET is indispensable to overcoming many f the challenges of TVET which exclude various populations, while allowing for the expansion of TVET to a more diverse population.
