Baba Nazeer Ahmad lives in a village called Azmat in district Pakpattan, Punjab, Pakistan. In 1947, he migrated from a village named Bahman Wala (Dodanwali), Muktsar, India. He was about 7 or more at time of partition. He recalls his native village where muslims, bahmans, chohrays, Banwryay and other communities lived in complete peace. Love and co-existence was found all around. Baba Nazeer Ahmad son of Lal Khan remembers the name of his childhood friend Chand Ram. Names of some other village fellows are still fresh in his memories. He tells when they leave their village, people of other communities weep over the helplessness and loss of muslims. Muslim families just handover their homes, cattle, grain and everything to hindus and leave for a newly made country Pakistan. They expect that they would return to their native places soon after the riots are over. Bahmans help the muslims in reaching the big caravan. When they leave their village, their small caravan is attacked by gang of looters who have covered their faces. They take all belongings. Taya identifies one of the attackers and asks him if he is Kair Singh. He urges him by saying 'Recall the days when you were in trouble and we helped you. Now we are in trouble and you are looting us'. Kair Singh had murdered two persons some years ago and Baba Nazeer Ahmad's family protected and hid him in their homes for 14 days. Kair Singh returns all their belongings and sends two persons with caravan for safety of the family. The story is filled with killings, murders, butchery and pains. It also reveals the unconditional love of people. The story shows that we, Indians and Pakistanis have common history, culture and losses.
