#sponsored #freeproduct Fun, durable, easy to use smartwatch for kids with games and fitness/activity tracker. The Spicy version of this watch has a green, purple and white color palette versus the mild’s plain black. The watch weighs 28 g, measures 41mm square and is13.5mm thick. There are two buttons: the lower is Arcade, and upper is Home. Biometric sensors are on the back for fitness/activity tracking. The magnetic charger is not reversible and requires a DC adapter with a USB-C port and at least 5 Watts output (not included). The watch charges in just an hour and lasts 16 hours, so you'll need to charge it every night. The watch is waterproof to 50 meters deep and the bumper works well for protecting the edges of the watch face but provides no direct impact protection for the OLED touchscreen. It is Gorilla Glass 3, so it should be resistant to bumps and scratches. The nylon fabric watch band dries slowly after getting wet which is a bit uncomfortable, and after repeated removals, it tends to get a bit fuzzy looking from the Velcro. You'll need to install the FitBit Ace mobile app to a mobile device and log in using a Google account. If your child doesn’t already have a Google kids profile under your account, you’ll need to create one. The app lets you call and message the watch, locate the device, track the wearer’s activity history, manage their contacts, and setup a payment method in Google wallet, so the wearer can make purchases using NFC tap-to-pay. Kids can have up to 20 contacts. You can also set up “school time” hours to silence notifications and disable the arcade on applicable days/times. Your child will create an avatar called an eejie to represent them in the games in the arcade. Completing levels earns tickets which are used to buy items and outfits for your eejie’s and their home. You’ll also collect items as rewards for clearing levels in the games, however, level progression requires unlocking through completing quests, so you’ll have to earn it with a little physical activity. The games are physically engaging, for example, Smokey Lake, a fishing game, requires you to throw out your arm in order to ‘cast’ a fishing line, then bring your arm back in quickly to reel in your catch. Bit Valley is your eejie’s virtual world and you can customize different spaces with items you collect and change the eejie's appearance and clothing. There are stores in BitValley where you can spend tickets to purchase or sell items. You can add friends who also have a FitBit Ace LTE watch if the parent has enabled this feature. Friends, once added, can see your eejie, house in Bit Valley, and activity progress and friends can visit each other but not send messages between the watches. Tickets can also be earned through quests and reaching the daily activity goal. Your child can set a daily Move Goal allows for how much physical activity they think they can complete each day which tracks both active and light activity, steps, and floors. Each type of activity contributes points towards your daily score and once you hit the goal, you are rewarded a set amount of XP and tickets. The Home Screen has an Move Goal tracker in the form of a "noodle" character, of which there are several to select from. It's basically a progress bar that will lengthen to fill the perimeter of the screen as you earn more points for physical activity. In the apps screen, the wearer can initiate calls, send texts and emojis and voice messages to their contacts via a built-in SIM card, though it requires a monthly or annual subscription to Ace Pass to use when there is no Wi-Fi.. The built-in microphone also also supports voice-to-text typing. Your child can setup a screen lock pattern or PIN, though if they forget it, a parent can unlock the watch remotely from the mobile app. When testing the GPS locator using find my device, it accurately determined the location and address, displaying it on a map. Overall, I think the Fitbit Ace LTE is a great kid-focused device that’s part smart watch and part fitness tracker. The goals and games seem like a fantastic way to motivate your kids to get excited about completing physical activity on a daily basis and my nephew has really been enjoying using it this past year. For parents, it lets you stay connected to your child, so you can view their physical activity history, call or message them from anywhere and see their location live, as long as you have an LTE subscription, giving you peace of mind as your child starts to explore their independence.
