This is a video long in the making. Everytime Manners directed an episode during my run through the original four seasons, I could tell when he was in the directors chair without even having to look at the credits. Manners was an absolute wizard when it came to television entertainment and his passing had effects on Supernatural as a whole. The possibilities of what the show would have become as it continued on past the fifth season with Manners along for the ride are too many to imagine. He by all accounts, could have hung up his spurs and retired after Swan Song, which by the way, if he had been alive, he would have most definitely directed Swan Song. But he might have also hung around and directed an episode here or there. If he hadn't retired entirely, he probably would have directed the series finale as well. Manners did live a hard life in private, having his battles with alcohol and cancer which ultimately ended his life. But he also was a charming and open individual who loved coming to work and created new and interesting stories.
