IMPORTANT!!! This problem has been SOLVED (2017). You can view the completed video with WORKING recorder here: • Exploring the CONCORD Reel to Reel 350 Tap... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS! ************************** Original Description: I got a vintage Concord Auto-Reverse tape recorder from E-Bay. It had mechanical problems (subject of another video) that I was able to fix, but it has an electrical mystery. It will playback fine in both directions, but it will NOT record! This video uses the "Silly Silly Tape Recorder - Two Heads are Better than One" • Silly, Silly Tape Recorder I - Two Heads... technique I developed to run a parallel line from one tape recorder head to another, to see if there is ANY signal going to the Concord head during recording. It seems to be getting a signal. A Westinghouse Portatape recorder proves it. But if the Westinghouse machine can tap the signal from the Concord and make a recording, why can't the Concord make a recording on its own? So this video is a call for HELP! Is there something wrong with my parallel circuit logic? Can a tape recorder head playback, yet not record, even when it is getting a good signal? Please look at the video and if you have any ideas, leave a comment, or send a PM to help me out. The Concord Auto Reverse Tape Recorder is a nice machine, and I would love to fully restore all of its functions! THANKS! ***************
