Curator Ahn Geun-soo, a traveler in remote areas, fell in love with the taste of travel, starting with a backpacking trip to Yunnan Province while studying abroad in China about 20 years ago. Yunnan Province, his first travel destination, is a land where various ethnic groups live in harmony, so much so that there is a saying, 'Ethnic groups and customs are different every 10 miles.' Hongwanchun, a Yi village located in a quiet mountainous area about 2,000 meters above sea level, is more crowded with outsiders than residents in early spring. This is because a ‘fire festival’ called Jihuojie (祭火節) is held. The Yi people are a people who have worshiped natural objects since ancient times, and in particular, they have been performing rituals to worship 'fire' for thousands of years. The residents living in Hongwanchun are of the Xi tribe (阿細族). The Asi people's fire festival, Fire Festival, is celebrated on February 3rd of the lunar calendar when the fire god Mu Deng first lit fireworks and taught them how to use fire. The primitive movements and songs of the Asi people contain feelings of gratitude and joy for fire, which warms and enriches life in remote areas. Travelers who are intoxicated with the excitement also jump over bonfires with the Asi tribe and enjoy the fire festival with their bodies and minds. Not far from Hongwancun is another special Yi village, Qingzikuchun (城子古村). A landscape where Tujiangfang, a traditional house of the Yi people, is laid out in layers along the mountain slope. The village is called the ‘Potala Palace of the Yi people’ because it resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Take a look at Tujiangfang's unique architectural styles, such as Tianjing (天井) with an open roof and structures connected to other houses through roofs, and imagine the past days of a village where people lived as one family. The next journey passes through Puzhehei, a karst terrain famous for having the best scenery in Yunnan Province, and heads to Bameichun. Ba Mei Chun, a secret village that can only be reached by taking a ferry and passing through a dark cave about 800 meters long. It was praised as an outside world garden because it resembled the Mureung Garden described in poet Tao Yuan-myeong's 'Peach Blossom Garden'. Spend a quiet night in that peaceful scenery. #World Theme Travel #Remote China #Yunnan?Sichuan #Hongwanchun Village #Fire Festival #Episode Flower Festival #Li Potala Palace #Saints' Ancient Village #Outside Taoyuan #Paemi Village
