These appear to be sporangia on branching sporangiophores. Ellipsoid to slightly ovoid they are packed with small (~ 1.5 µm) pale green spheres, without distinct structures at this magnification. (The clip is at 4x speed, the entire recording was originally about 20 minutes long; actual time is stamped in the video, times in this description are clip-times.) After a few minutes of swelling slightly, a testate amoeba runs roughshod through the frame and bumps the sporangia (:10) and – incidentally or not – the sporangiospores become very active within the sporangia. The upper sporangium begins release very soon afterwards (:25). Oddly, the lower one is very active and appears to have spores on its surface, but is evidently not “releasing” them. It's difficult to be certain, but it appears that the lower sporangium only releases its very energetic spores when the upper, first sporangium is empty (or as empty as it becomes, by :52). Both empty to a shell and a few remainders by 1:26 (18:24, real time). The spores move quickly out of frame and are difficult to track, though those that obliged sped off in different directions at very different speeds. The speeds noted (a small sample) ranged from 11 – 60 µm sec-1. (Thumbnail image only cleaned.)
