Welcome to a new video at the district of Bayreuth and the border to the neighbor country the Czech Republic. Did you see my video last mouth of my trip to the Plassenburg fortress of Kulmbach next to Bayreuth? In today’s video we visit the Abbey which is more and over a part of the castle of Kulmbach and the Hohenzollern noble family. The trip into the Himmelkron Abbey: I went by car on a sunny day in springtime to the village Himmelkron. I went by foot up to the highest place of the village where the Abbey is loceated. At first, I visited the protestant pastor church. The church was a pastor church but gave a light feeling to a catholic church. According that the Abbey was founded by the duke and knight Otto of Orlamünde and in the following time a place for nuns was, I found some old stone boards and a stone figure of the lord of the Orlamünders at the side part. Also, the top was full with ornamentic and art as well. At next I visited the cloister of the Abbey. In the past the cloister was bigger but at the wall were still a lot of stone board both figures to see. At the door at the end of the cloister I came in a floor which led me to the chapel which was built for the knights. I was alone at the chapel and gave me a great feeling. After my tour into the Abbey, I walked a little bit into the village Himmelkron. All streets where empty and all shops were currently closed. But it was a great visit at Himmelkron village and the Abbey which was in its founding time the place where the ghost of the Hohenzollern family the countess Kunigunde of Orlamünde have left and diet. About the Himmelkron Abbey: The Himmelkron Abbey, loceated between Bayreuth and Kulmbach is a protestant collegiate church. From the years where the Abbey was founded is a long history. The duke of the noble family Otto III let built the monastery after he became the owner of the Plassenburg castle at Kulmbach. Some years later the countess Kunigunde of Orlamünde went as the first female Dept went in this Abbey after a conflict at their home the Plassenburg castle of the Hohenzollern family. In the coming centuries more female Depts govern the Abbey like Appolonia von Weidenfells from 1529 to 1543 or the last Dept Margarethe von Döllau 1544 to 1569. In the time of the reformation time of Martin Luther the Abbey became protestant and some parts like the cloister and some buildings were closed. Today the Abbey is a recreation center for people with disability and extern place of the Plassenburg castle at Kulmbach. According to the say, the countess as Dept Kunigunde of Orlamünde swore at this Abbey to return as a ghost back to her old family the Hohenzollern to bring the bad new to the following generations.
