In todays episode I arrive to more rain in the garden! when will it stop! but jobs have to be done. My ibc tank had no cage around it and when filled it would expand. In fear it would buckle the polytunnel by putting pressure on the poles, plus that amount of water leaving the tank, it could rip the plastic. some pallets were added around it and secured.. we shall see if that suffices. I then helped a fellow Gardener with his shed build. He showed me how to make a shed from pallets for very little cost. I sowed the next succession of seeds for a summer harvest. plenty of lettuces and squashes. I then discover slug attacks on all my beautifully cared for Brassicas. with all this rain we've had, its been a perfect environment for slugs and snails. I purchased some crushed seashells and sprinkled them around the brassicas. Plan A! Fingers crossed that works! I have many tactics to stop slugs this year. To be continued! All the seedlings are looking healthy now. The mystery plant from Sarah @ she Sows She Grows has sprouted. I think it's a cup and saucer vine! We shall see... A link to Sarah's channel: / @she.sows.she.grows . The potatoes that I planted in the ground are all showing on the surface now for a spring harvest of new potatoes, swift and Charlotte's. The Farmer Gracy plants are all showing signs of life now, they will soon be planted out in the flower beds. link to Farmer Gracy: www.farmergracy.co.uk I return to the Fig and olive plot and show you how to sow carrots in 30litre buckets for a good harvest. Fingers crossed! I then planted the remaining early potatoes in potato bags, that were given to me by www.simplelifeco.co.uk . They also gave me some coco coir and paper bags to use for fruit harvests. They work towards reducing the plastics used. The potato bags were made from recycled bottles. Will's Channel: / @theflyinggardener Simplelifeco : https://simplelifeco.uk/products/recy... Speaking of reducing plastics. Andermatt sent me a plastic free garden net to trial. It's made from plants! A garden net made from plants!! It lasts about 3 years and then you can add to your compost area and it will go back to mother earth. Clever !!!
