This 15-person pulse gondola was built by DCSA-Creissels in 1988. It serves the Mer de Glace - you take the gondola down, and walk a little ways to the ice cave. In the summer of 2023, a new Doppelmayr D-Line 10-person gondola was built on a new alignment that starts further down from the old gondola because of the receding glacier. Shortly after the new gondola opened in February 2024, the old gondola was taken down. There are four groups of two cabins, totaling 8 cabins. I'm not sure what speed it was running at in this recording, but I’ll estimate it was running around 563 fpm (2.86 m/s). Recorded Mar. 4, 2023.
