PLEASE VOTE FOR US HERE! https://www.talenthouse.com/i/132/sub... The city of Norwich in England is facing a Bylaw to ban skateboarding. The Council are trying to make the entire city centre skateboard free. We had a brief chat with Sam Avery, the “DRUG STORE” skate shop owner about how the scene has changed since he moved here in 1999, and how it could be made better without making laws that would lead to children and teenagers being prosecuted and taken to Court. The reason the Council wish to bring in this law is because they believe that youths have been skateboarding on the War Memorial outside the City Hall. If you look at the memorial, you can clearly see that skateboarders are not responsible for the damage. Another reason for the Council making this decision is because they don’t like people skateboarding outside the City Hall. The concrete outside is the only smooth area in Norwich that isn’t private and doesn’t have security in place. Skateboarders in Norwich have requested a waste ground area in Anglia Square to be converted into a designated skate spot. This would be achieved by covering the area in smooth concrete thus allowing the community to have a DIY skate spot. Capturing everything there is to say is hard with a short video, so we’ve decided to pick out some key parts. Going forward, we would like to create a documentary showing the areas affected by the Bylaw and interviews with skateboarders expressing their views and ideas. We would also like to exhibit the area damaged at the War Memorial, and express how this isn’t damage inflicted by skateboarders. We have evidence that children on scooters have mistreated the Memorial and skateboarders have been wrongly accused. The Council in our opinion refuse to listen and wish to go ahead with the Bylaw.
