CTU: COUNTER TERRORIST UNIT is an action platformer developed by Ozura Games in 2006 for mobile phones supporting J2ME. Early in development, the main character's sprites were very reminiscent of those from Contra III: The Alien Wars. Plot: US President George Bosch sends Special Agent Jack Hunter to the Westfall Nuclear Power Plant after receiving a bomb threat. After defusing the bomb, the hero finds clues to the terrorist group's location, but the President orders the rescue of a biochemist whom the terrorists have kidnapped to develop a new terrorist weapon. Infiltrating the enemy base, Jack rescues the scientist and uncovers the identity of the terrorist group's leader, Osama Bin Osim. Osama's goal is to sow terror and destruction in the United States with a new biochemical nuclear warhead. In terms of gameplay, this is yet another Contra clone, but with stripped-down mechanics: no additional weapons, no ability to shoot in eight directions. The game features four levels, each ending with a boss fight (one even resembles Defense Wall). There are two sections where you have to defuse a bomb within a time limit while enemies advance. The music playlist consists of two tracks (the menu theme and the level music), which sound like they've been cut. Overall, the game is quite interesting, as another example of the run-and-gun genre for mobile phones.
