The bass-less Trio Grande originally grew out of Gilad Hekselman's collaboration with saxophonist Will Vinson and drummer Antonio Sánchez, who each produced an album under Vinson's name in 2018 and as Trio Grande in 2020. 2020's self-titled album received excellent reviews and was hailed for its musical range from rock to funk to world music against a backdrop of deep roots in jazz. Now the trio has reformed with the addition of virtuoso drummer Nate Wood. With new music and a first single release in their luggage, Trio Grande is going on tour again! Gilad Hekselman is one of the leading voices in jazz guitar. Just a few years after arriving in New York in 2004, the Israeli native has already shared the stage with some of the biggest artists on the New York jazz scene, including Chris Potter, Eric Harland, Mark Turner, Anat Cohen, Ari Hoenig, Esperanza Spalding, Jeff Ballard, Ben Wendel, Gretchen Parlato, Ben Williams, Avishai Cohen, Tigran Hamasyan, Aaron Parks and Becca Stevens, among many others. He has played at all the major jazz clubs in New York City, including the Village Vanguard, the Blue Note, The Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Club, and Smalls. He tours constantly around the world and has played most major jazz festivals and venues, including Montreux, North Sea, Montreal, and SFJazz, to name a few.Hekselman has released nine critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader, many of which have been included in the best of lists in the NY Times, Downbeat Magazine, Amazon, All About Jazz, and many other publications. Originally from London, alto saxophonist and composer Will Vinson moved to New York City in 1999 and has been a fixture there ever since.... Since his arrival, he has performed and/or recorded with Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ari Hoenig, Marcus Gilmore, Chris Potter, Kurt Elling, Lage Lund, Aaron Parks and many others. Will is a member of a number of leading ensembles, including pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba's quartet, Ari Hoenig's Punk Bop and Nonet, Miguel Zenon's Identities Orchestra, and his own groups featuring Shai Maestro and Mike Moreno, among others, in addition to the musicians mentioned above. Will is a multiple Grammy nominee and has recorded on leading modern jazz labels such as Criss Cross Records. Nate Wood is primarily a drummer, but also a multi-instrumentalist and studio technician. Nate became known for the Grammy-nominated group he co-founded, Kneebody, which is one of the most groundbreaking fusion jazz groups of recent years. Nate is one of the most esteemed drummers in the world in the crossover arena and has played with leading artists beyond genre conventions during his career, including Dave Grohl, Sting, Chaka Khan, Wayne Krantz, Tigran Hamasyan, Donny McCaslin and more.
