Speech by Mr. Asim Khichi, Managing Director, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP)

On 22 February 2024, Mr. Asim Khichi, Managing Director, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) was the Guest of Honor at the One Day International Conference on “Role of Media in Enhancing the Global Connectivity through Belt and Road Initiative” Jointly organized by China Media Group (Islamabad Studio), Department of Arts and Media, Foundation University School of Science and Technology Islamabad and Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Islamabad. The topic of his speech was “Pakistan’s Media Role in Regional Connectivity through CPEC”. In his speech, Mr. Khichi highlighted the important role of media and media professionals in bringing positive changes and development in society. He emphasized that media, being the fourth pillar of the state, needs to effectively play its role in creating awareness and educating people about the significance of regional connectivity, especially the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stated that CPEC would provide immense economic opportunities to the people of Pakistan. Mr. Khichi also urged the Pakistani media to utilize modern platforms and new technologies for effective dissemination of news and information. He stressed on the importance of responsible journalism and urged media professionals to uphold ethical standards. He further emphasized on the need to promote cultural understanding and mutual cooperation between China and Pakistan through responsible journalism.
