San Jose de Buenavista, Antique January 19, 2026 “Hangarin ng ating Administrasyon ang pagbubuti ng kalidad ng transportasyon sa inyong probinsya nang marami pang mga kababayan natin at mga turista ang makapagpunta rito,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. when he inaugurated the Antique Airport Development Projects, unveiling a new passenger terminal and other airside facilities aimed at improving connectivity to Antique and the broader Western Visayas or Region VI. Speaking at the Antique Airport in San Jose de Buenavista, the President said the upgrades are part of the Administration’s effort to make travel faster, more convenient, and easier for residents and tourists, highlighting the daily challenges many travelers face in terms of time, cost, and inconvenience. “Patunay ito ng ating pagsisikap na makapaghatid ng serbisyong abot-kamay: malinaw, praktikal, at kapaki-pakinabang sa ating mga kababayan,” he said. He also highlighted the project cost, saying that the total spending for the improvements and construction of the passenger terminal amounted to Php120 million, and that the control tower alone cost Php42 million. The Chief Executive also stated that the Antique Airport project is part of a broader regional modernization effort. At Iloilo International Airport, the government is improving the passenger terminal, replacing escalators, upgrading baggage handling, and preparing to asphalt the runway for safety. Meanwhile, Roxas Airport is undergoing runway asphalting, which began in October last year, and the construction of a control tower is set to start this year. Closing his remarks, the President urged agencies to treat the project as a benchmark for public service and to ensure its implementation so the public can benefit sooner.
