This video is about Snorkeling at Little Dume mid day in Aug 2020. Fish are super close or inside the MPA (Marine Protected Area) off Point Dume. Point Dume is unique because of the submarine trench stretching down 5 miles deep or so. Sylvia Earle, honorary mer-person, has a documentary on the trench. So all the yummy deep ocean foods come up to mix with the warmer water off Point Dume. That means we get to see whales off the shore! The fish here are fat and happy from what it looks like. However, commercial fishing boats can be spotted within the MPA trying to catch fish that are protected. MPA's are baby fish environments: healthy MPA = healthy ocean = health commercial fishing.
