December 9, 1992 - After missing the bulk of his second year due to injury, Orlando Magic forward Dennis Scott came out firing at the outset of the 1992-93 season. Playing alongside rookie center Shaquille O'Neal, Scott buried his first eight shots against the Detroit Pistons en route to tallying 38 points while shooting 8-of-12 from deep in a narrow 108-103 loss. Scott, who played a key role on the Shaq & Penny Magic team that reached the 1995 NBA Finals, long held the NBA's single game 3-point record when he connected on 11 3-pointers against the Atlanta Hawks in 1996. His record stood until Kobe Bryant hit 12 3-pointers against the Seattle SuperSonics in 2003.
