Skyline ( Plumbers ) MTB Trail | Pirates - Skyline - Fern Route | Big Bear CA 2020

The Skyline MTB trail runs behind Snow Summit and goes all the way around town. Today we will focus on a small section of the trail that can be used as a new route down from Snow Summit Bike Park: Pirates - Skyline - Fern. This section used to be called Plumbers and still is on Trailforks (9/2020). The Skyline trail is primarily a single track downhill when going in this direction. There are a few short climbs, but overall there is very little pedaling required. The trail flows and is much smoother than Going Green. There are a few sections with rocks and on very short tricky section that is easy to walk. The trail flows through the forest and offers many opportunities to stop and rest. Mountain biking this trail instead of Going Green is much easier on the body, but the short climbs will make you feel it in you legs. People do hike on this trail and pedal up it. I would consider it a beginner trail because I find it easier than Going Green. It could easily be called an intermediate trail because of the switchbacks and the tricky rocky section. The Skyline trails parallels the 2N10 most of the way. Also, you can pedal up past Big Bear Mountain Resort and find the bottom of the trail.
