They have different beliefs and that we meet them where they are. Hi, my name is Missy Coombs. I'm a physician associate with Salem Health Orthopedics. I think I was naturally drawn to taking care of people even as a kid. My brother would come and get me if someone hurt themselves at the park and I'd bring my little supplies and help them out at the park. But I really, like most people in this profession, we just want to help people. One of the reasons I like being a physician associate is because I get to interact with people and they get to share a little bit of their world with me, and I think that's really special. I like Salem Health because they put patients first, and I also like Salem Health because I'm part of a bigger team, and with team you get a lot of collaboration, and even outside of the discipline of orthopedics I practice in, I am able to easily go up to any other person or doctor and ask their opinion and everybody is just willing to help and work as a team for the betterment of the patient care. When I first meet a patient it's important to me that I put the patient at ease and I create an environment that is easy for them to ask questions, because I listen and I try not to interrupt, and I like to involve them in their care plan, which I think is very empowering for the patient."
