Genesis 27 Explained | Jacob Deceives Isaac and Receives the Blessing Genesis 27 is one of the most dramatic chapters in Genesis — a story of family tension, deception, and the unfolding of God’s plan. Isaac, old and nearly blind, intended to bless Esau. But Rebekah and Jacob conspired to secure the blessing for Jacob instead. Jacob disguised himself as Esau, brought food to his father, and received the blessing: “May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you… cursed be those who curse you, blessed be those who bless you.” Moments later, Esau returned and discovered what had happened. He wept bitterly, but Isaac confirmed: “Indeed he shall be blessed.” Esau pleaded for a blessing and was told he would live by the sword and serve his brother, though one day he would break free. Consumed by anger, Esau resolved to kill Jacob. Rebekah urged Jacob to flee to her brother Laban in Haran until Esau’s fury passed. Genesis 27 reminds us of the weakness of people — Isaac’s favoritism, Rebekah’s scheming, Jacob’s deceit, Esau’s bitterness — yet God’s purpose stood firm. The blessing passed to Jacob, just as God had foretold. 👉 Subscribe to explore every chapter of the Bible: / @biblechapterbychapter --- Genesis 27 Highlights: Isaac prepares to bless Esau Rebekah and Jacob’s deception Jacob receives the blessing Esau’s grief and anger Prophecy over Esau’s future Jacob urged to flee to Haran --- *Next comes Genesis 28 — Jacob flees toward Haran, where he encounters God in a dream at Bethel.* --- #Genesis27 #BibleExplained #BibleChapterByChapter #JacobAndEsau #Isaac #BibleStudy
