Thanksgiving is almost here! I'm sharing my family's favorite Old Fashioned Corn Bread Dressing recipe from "The Southern Living Cookbook" in this video. I'll walk you through all of the steps to make the perfect dressing for Thanksgiving 🍽 🦃. 👩🍳 You can either make this recipe before Thanksgiving and freeze it, or make it the day of! Find the recipe below: #TheHowellGroup #YourHowellGroup #Thanksgiving #Dressing #diannaskitchen ---------------------- Here's the recipe for Old Fashioned Cornbread Dressing: 2 cups cornmeal 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 beaten eggs 2 cups buttermilk 2 tablespoons melted bacon drippings 3 stalks chopped celery 1 medium chopped onion 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine 12 slices of crumbled day old bread 2 to 2-1/2 cups turkey or chicken broth 1 cup milk 2 beaten eggs 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage 1/4 teaspoon pepper The first step is to make cornbread (you can do this the day before making your dressing if that's easier): Combine the cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Add 2 eggs, buttermilk, and the melted bacon drippings. Stir well. This will make cornbread. Grease a skillet and bake the mixture at 450 degrees for 35 minutes or until the cornbread is lightly browned. Once cooked, crumble the cornbread into a large bowl to mix the other ingredients in later. Sauté celery and onion in butter until tender. Add the sautéd mix and the remaining ingredients into the crumbled cornbread. Stir well. Spoon dressing into a lightly greased pan, do not pack the dressing down. Bake for around 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Once the dressing is cooked, you can enjoy or freeze for later! Bon appétit!!
