Il piano sembra semplice: prendere l’auto, caricare tutto e partire. Dopo questo corso intensivo siamo finalmente pronti. Carichiamo le bici, i sacchi a pelo, il frigorifero portatile e tutto l’occorrente per le prossime settimane nella natura. Nelle prossime puntate torneranno le bici — ma oggi abbiamo un compagno diverso: l’Hilux. Con un fuoristrada come questo, la Namibia cambia volto. Ogni strada sterrata diventa piacere, ogni buca ha un senso — niente a che vedere con la Polo del precedente viaggio. La savana è ocra, i villaggi polverosi… e il deserto comincia a parlarci. Arriviamo a Ombu Village, dove si preserva la cultura del popolo Ovaherero. Un asinello ci accompagna fino all’area camping — passo dopo passo, come fosse una guida del posto. Solo al tramonto apriamo la tenda sul tetto: il tessuto si tende, la scala si allunga. In pochi minuti la nostra casa è pronta. It sounds simple: pick up the car, load everything and go. But reality — as always — has other plans. 🎬 The video begins with a crash course on the Hilux: The rental team shows us how to open the rooftop tent, how to use the camp fridge, how to activate the water tank and how to set the telescopic ladder properly. After this training, we’re finally ready. The bikes will come back soon… but today, we’re travelling with a different companion: the Hilux. With a real 4x4, Namibia changes shape. Dirt roads become fun — nothing like the little Polo of our previous trip. Ochre savannah, dusty villages… the desert speaks again. At Ombu Village, preserving Ovaherero culture, a curious donkey walks ahead of us — like a local guide into the wild. At sunset, we open the rooftop tent for the first time. The fabric stretches, the ladder unfolds… and suddenly, we are home. 💫 The first night in the tent doesn’t just happen.
