Boli Khela, also known as Bali Khela is a form of wrestling sport. The literal meaning of the game is the game of a powerful person. The game originated in Bangladesh and is currently practiced only in the Chittagong area in the country. Initially, the game was played to develop self-defense skills but later it was developed into a proper competitive sport. It is a full-contact wrestling sport in which fighters try to overcome their opponent by employing techniques like clinching, throwing, joint locking, pinning holds, and several other grappling holds. Matches of Boli Khela are conducted on a circular or square field with a dirt surface between two fighters. Wrestlers are only allowed to wear a pair of shorts, all other forms of clothing or protective equipment such as shoes or any other gear are prohibited. The objective for each wrestler is similar to traditional wrestling matches where they are required to force any part of the opponent's body, except the feet, to touch the ground. The match is not played for a set duration, rather the timing of the match is decided by the fighters themselves based on their will and conditions. A typical Boli Khela flight lasts for 25 to 30 minutes. More crucial matches where there is a lot at stake, matches tend to go for even longer. The first fighter who manages to overcome their opponent by bringing their body except for feet in direct contact with the ground wins the match.
