🐝 Bee Biologist Sally Lent, Co-located at the USGS Bee Lab, shares insights into the lab's essential native bee research. 🔬 The program supports native bee conservation by providing researchers with the identification tools, expert verification, and standardized data they need to work accurately and efficiently. Sally holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. For the past three years, she has supported the National Wildlife Refuge System and federal, state and NGO partners with their pollinator surveys by processing and identifying bee specimens and managing data. She has also advanced refuge pollinator conservation efforts by revising protocols, developing standard operating procedures for field and lab methods, and creating training resources for refuge staff and technicians. Sally was introduced to her role through ACE's EPIC (Emerging Professionals In Conservation) Program.
