This is song number eight in my story of Galarden, a fictional world that I've been creating in my head for many years. You can catch up on the ongoing story here: • Galarden Tales (My Story of Songs) -------------------------------------------------- Through fire, claw, and fang, the Dragon Queen descended upon the capital. The Necromancer King’s banners burned first, then his towers, then his throne. By dawn, his tyranny lay in ash and bone, and the Escaped King’s people were free—liberated in the span of a single, violent night. The streets, once choked with the dead, now pulsed with life. Chains were torn from doors. Ash-streaked citizens flooded the avenues, chanting the Dragon Queen’s name until it echoed off the shattered spires. They danced atop cracked cobblestone, laughing as if sound itself had been forbidden until now. At their head walked the Escaped King—his fingers entwined with the Dragon Queen’s as he lifted her hand for all to see, to praise and thank her in front of her people, playing his role perfectly as the grateful fool. She accepted his praise, and cheered along with his people as she passed, but every so often she would lift her gaze to him and smile. And every time the King would feel it — the weight of her gaze. It was warm. Measuring. Curious. As though she were not finished with this city… or even with him. He had planned to thank her with steel once the cheers faded and the city was rebuilt. But now...watching the firelight dance across her eyes as she watched him, smiled up at him, he wondered if his plan had already begun to change. And pondered on how gratitude, when wrapped in desire, could be a far more useful weapon than any blade... -------------------------------------------------- #fantasysong #fantasymusic #fantasysongs #fantasylovers #epicsong #booktok #booktube #storysongs #music #newmusicalert #spotifyplaylist #fantasyplaylist #bookmusic #bookplaylist #newmusic #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #necromancer #dragons
