Butch Robins is one of the true innovators of melodic/progressive banjo. Butch would tell you that "he just plays the melody." Butch released several well-received classic albums on Rounder in the 70's and returned to the banjo limelight in the 90's with Grounded Centered Focused, which was one of the last recordings to feature Bill Monroe. Butch served one of the longest tenures for a banjoist as a Blue Grass Boy with Bill Monroe and also played with Sam Bush and New Grass Revival, Harry James, Jim and Jesse, Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper and Leon Russell.
